What is the difference between a university master's degree, a URV-specific postgraduate programmes and microcredentials?

At the URV, as at all other universities in Spain, degrees are classified in three levels: bachelor's degree, master's/postgraduate degree and doctoral degree.

At the second level, the URV primarily offers two types of degree:

Official university master's degrees

University Master's Degrees are official qualifications that are fully integrated into the European Higher Education Area and offer high-level specialized training that will enable you to increase your job opportunities. In addition, many are oriented towards acquiring research skills, given that a university master's degree is a prerequisite for access to a doctoral programme.

To access a university master's degree, you must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

URV-specific postgraduate programmes and micro-credentials

URV-specific postgraduate programmes and micro-credentials are designed to respond to the specific needs of the socioeconomic sectors and will prepare you for professional practice in your speciality. They are officially recognised qualifications awarded by the URV in accordance with the current legislation on postgraduate studies and lifelong learning. They may or may not be recognised by some countries, institutions or companies. Above all, companies value the prestige of the programmes and the fact that they provide candidates for employment with the skills they are seeking.

The URV-specific programmes are open to people who do not have a university degree. In this case, on successfully completing the programme they are awarded a certificate of achievement.

What is online teaching like at the URV?

The driving force behind the URV's online teaching model is student activity and the continuous feedback from lecturers.
You will have access to a wide variety of tools and resources which will help you enjoy a high-quality learning experience.
The URV's online and blended master's degrees combine asynchronous activities with video calls. This gives you the flexibility to study when it suits you best and enables you to be in contact with the teaching staff and your colleagues on the same course.

If I am admitted to a master's course pending accreditation of my access qualification, can I still register anyway?

No. You must provide the certificate of the qualification that gives you access to the master's course or provide a document confirming that you have paid for the issuance of this certificate, in accordance with the instructions that the Campus Secretariat for Academic Management send you by email when they inform you that you have the status of 'Admitted pending accreditation of access qualification' in your pre-registration application.

There is an exception for those students that are about to finish a Spanish Bachelor’s degree: exceptionally, in September they can apply for registration access, although they do not have still passed the bachelor’s final thesis and 9 ECTS only. In this case, they could registrate depending on the number of available places.

What can I do to guarantee myself a place on the master's degree?

If you are admitted during the 1st or 2nd phase and you want to guarantee yourself a place on the master's degree, you must reserve it by paying 400 euros in advance. This amount will be deducted from the registration fee later.
