Master’s students

I am a new student and I don't know the university, where can I get information?

As a master's student, you can email the academic coordinator of your master's degree to ask any questions you may have about how the programme works. In addition, many courses hold introductory sessions during the first days of classes to answer any questions students may have.


If you have any questions about the services, organisation, activities and general functioning of the URV, you can contact the User Service Points located in the Learning and Research Resources Centre (CRAI) of each Campus.

Where can I find all the information about timetables and

Where can I find all the information I need about the subjects I have registered for, such as content, teaching staff and assessment?

Each subject has a teaching guide detailing its contents, the competences to be taught and acquired, the teaching methodologies, the assessment systems, the teaching staff, and the recommended bibliography.


You can access the teaching guide of subject that you have already registered for via the area for that subject in the  Virtual Campus (Moodle).

If you wish to consult the teaching guide of a subject that you have not registered for, you can find a link to all the teaching guides on the website of each URV school or faculty.

What is the academic calendar?

Be aware that each faculty/school makes changes to the general academic calendar, so you should check the specific academic calendar of your faculty/school.

Can I apply for a grant?

Check the website of the Student Office, where you will find information on all the calls for scholarships grants that you can apply for as a master's degree student.

In addition, the International Centre offers several grants if you want to do an internship or study at another institution.

Doctoral students

I am a new student and I don't know the university, where can I get information?

As a doctoral student, you can send an email to the Doctoral School and the academic coordinators of your doctoral programme to ask questions about how the programme is organised and run. In addition, both the doctoral programme and the Doctoral School hold information sessions in which they explain how the doctoral programme works and answer any questions students may have.

You also have the Guide for doctoral students, which tells you which steps you need to follow right from the start of your doctoral programme. 

If you have any questions about the services, organisation, activities and general running of the URV, you can contact the URV's User Service Centres located in the Learning and Research Resources Centre (CRAI) on each campus.

Where can I find all the information I need about the subjects I have registered for, such as content, teaching staff and assessment?

To find out specific information regarding a training activity, you should consult the website of the unit that is organising it. For example, if the training activity is organised by the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE), you can consult the ICE website. Likewise, if the training activity is organised by another unit (CRAI, department, etc.), you can find further information about it on the website of the unit concerned. You can also consult the Transversal Training Programme of the Doctoral School.[CB1] 

If your registration includes additional training or if you participate in the URV's Open Learning Programme, you can consult the timetable for these subjects in the Online Academic Information Space.

In the Virtual Campus (Moodle) you can find activities specific to the doctoral programme that you have registered for and information about the programme's assessment criteria and internal regulations.

What is the academic calendar?

If your registration includes additional training or you are participating in the URV's Open Learning Programme, you can find the specific timetable for your centre (faculty or school) in the "information for new students" section of the website of the centre where you are taking you bachelor's or master's degree subjects.

Can I apply for a grant?

There are several grants available to doctoral students in the form of research contracts, mobility grants and prizes for outstanding work. The Doctoral School publishes information both about its own grants and awards (for co-supervised theses, or the extraordinary doctoral degree awards) and about those of other institutions (for example, the Industrial Doctorate awards). There is also information on the following websites:

  • The Research Support Office organises and manages various grants for pre-doctoral and postdoctoral contracts and research projects, from both the URV and other institutions (AGAUR, Spanish Government, European Union, private entities). You can use the R+D+I grants search engine to search for different categories of grant, project or financial assistance in your field of knowledge.
  • The Student Office publishes several calls for applications for awards, grants and financial aid for doctoral students.
  • In addition, if you want to study or spend time abroad, the International Centre offers various grants and forms of financial assistance. You can also check to see if your doctoral programme has its own grants.

Can you help me with my paperwork and travel arrangements (visa, NIE, medical insurance etc.)?

The URV's International Centre can provide you with all the information and advice you need to prepare for your stay at the URV.

As a student, what digital services does the URV offer me?

When you register at the URV for the first time, once 24 hours have passed, you will be able to access all of the URV's digital services: intranet, email, Virtual Campus (Moodle) and Wi-Fi.

What is my username and password?

Each student is automatically assigned a username and personal password so they can use all of the URV's digital services.

What is my URV email address and how can I access it?

Your URV email address is where you will receive all communications from the university community.

You can access your email by entering your personal username and password into the URV's Intranet or at virtual.urv.cat

How can I connect to the university's Wi-Fi for free?

The vast majority of university spaces have a Wi-Fi network with free access for members of the university community. Click here to find out how to connect.

What is the Virtual Campus and how do I access it?

The URV's Virtual Campus (Moodle) is an online platform to support teaching and learning in any modality: face-to-face, blended and virtual.
You can access the Virtual Campus at www.urv.cat/campusvirtual or via the University website: → Shortcuts → Virtual Campus.

You must use your username and password to access the URV's digital services.

You can start to become familiar with the URV's Virtual Campus by watching the welcome video for new students, which you will find once you access the Virtual Campus.

The best way to keep up to date with news about your course is via the Moodle app's push notification service for mobiles and digital tablets. You can download the official Moodle app for Android, Apple or Windows Mobile from Google Play, the App Store or the Microsoft Store respectively. Click here to get more information about the app.

What is the URV card for?

our URV card identifies you as a student and gives you many benefits including, for example, access to the Learning and Research Resource Centre (CRAI) and special discount fares on public transport.

How can I get my URV card?

I have to carry out an administrative procedure and I don't know where to go.

In the administrative procedures section of the website, you will find details of the main administrative procedures that you are likely to need to carry out.

For certain administrative procedures, you will need to contact your campus secretariat. You can go in person during opening hours or send an email. Click here for the contact details of the campus secretariats.

What services does the Learning and Research Resource Centre (CRAI) offer me?

The Learning and Research Resources Centre (CRAI) on each campus offers a wide range of services to facilitate your learning, such as the library, individual and group study spaces with multimedia access, and training to improve your IT and information management skills.

At the CRAI you will also find the Language Learning Space where you can find resources to help you improve your language skills, get help from a language tutor and join conversation groups in English.

How can I find accommodation?

If you are looking for accommodation, you can go to the URV Accommodation Office, where you can find information about student residences and a list of flats and rooms to rent.

What courses does the Language and Publications Service offer me?

The Language and Publication Service organises a wide range of courses in Catalan, English, French, Italian and Spanish for foreign learners. You can find more details at the website Llengües URV.

What cultural and leisure activities does the university offer me?

The Diversity Support Service of the Social Engagement Office can offer you information and support.

How can I commute to the URV?

Check the Transport website for all the information on how to get to the different areas of the URV by car, bicycle, public transport or on foot.

What student associations are there and how can I join them?

You can find a list of existing associations and their contact details On the Associations website.

As you enter this new phase, we would like you to be involved in the URV either by being part of the university's student associations, by representing your classmates in the URV's governing bodies, or by electing your representatives. In this way, we will be able to accompany you and be better placed to identify and attend to your needs, suggestions and concerns.
