Academic information

Simultaneous studies

You can study the Master's Degree in Legal Practice and Legal Representation in conjunction with another Faculty of Legal Sciences master's degree that leads to a legal specialisation. This means you can obtain two university degrees.

For more information, visit the Faculty of Legal Sciences' website.

External practices

Internships are compulsory. The timetable depends on the institution where they take place.

Internships help students to:

  • To develop certain learning outcomes in the professional settings of lawyers and court procedural representatives,
  • To integrate theoretical knowledge with practical legal experience.
  • To become familiar with legal institutions and bodies,
  • To get to know and use the professional legal methods of lawyers and court procedural representatives.

Internship subjects:

  • Legal Practice, 6 ECTS credits (90 h). Second semester of the first year.
  • Internship I, 12 ECTS credits (300 h). First semester of the second year, from September to January. May be brought forward to July or postponed to after February, subject to the corresponding administrative procedure.
  • Internship II, 12 ECTS credits (300 h). First semester of the second year, from September to January. May be brought forward to July or postponed to after February, subject to the corresponding administrative procedure.

In the Legal Practice subject, students shadow lawyers from the Legal Advice Service when providing legal assistance to detainees, victims of abuse or minors. They also attend proceedings (hearings, trials and appearances) and shadow court procedural representatives in their work. Students also visit local or regional police stations and, if they obtain authorisation, the Tarragona prison.

The Internship I and II subjects take place mainly at law firms and the offices of court procedural representatives where students are assigned tutors. However, these two work placement subjects may also take place at the courts, government offices, companies, police stations, prisons, social service or health centres, or non-profit entities, subject to places being available that meet the educational requirements of the degree (in accordance with Royal Decree 64/2023 of 8 February approving the Regulation of Law 34/2006).
