Catalan University Championships
The University Championships of Catalonia (CCU) are a sports competition in which students from all Catalan universities participate and are coordinated by Esport Català Universitari (ECU), the organization that brings together the universities of the Catalan university system in matters of sports. Competitions are organized in a wide variety of sports, both individual (such as athletics, swimming, or chess) and team (football, basketball, volleyball, or handball), and students participate representing their university, making it both a sporting experience and an opportunity to build university identity.
The top-ranked URV students in the CCU may earn a place to compete in the Spanish University Championships (CEU).
Team sports
The CCU team sports are held in a one-day format, with matches concentrated from morning to midday, during weekdays. In case of academic incompatibilities, participating students may request a participation certificate at competicio@urv.cat.
This year, the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia is the coordinator, and Vic will be the host city of the competition.
To participate, the following steps must be followed:
- Fill out the pre-registration form. The deadline is open until October 17.
- Once the pre-registration period has closed, Esports URV will contact interested students and invite them to the selection training sessions.
- The URV coach/selector will choose the athletes who will represent URV in the competition based on sporting criteria.
- The selected athletes will receive confirmation from Esports URV and the instructions to participate.
- The athletes must take part in the training sessions prior to the competition.

URV Team Sports Participation Regulations

Mandatory insurance
To compete, it is essential to have the additional mandatory accident insurance included in the enrollment.
Individual sports
The Catalonia University Championships of individual sports 2026 are mainly held between October and December and may take place either on weekdays or weekends. Esports URV convenes students only for the competition and does not organize prior training sessions.
To participate, the following steps must be followed:
- Fill out the pre-registration form. The deadline is open until 20 days before the championship takes place.
- Once the pre-registration period has closed, Esports URV will contact the interested students to confirm their intention to participate.
- If applicable, Esports URV will select the athletes who will represent URV in the competition based on sporting criteria.
- The selected athletes will receive confirmation from Esports URV and instructions to participate.
