  • Summary: The Master's Degree in Education and Psychomotor Therapy runs every two years; therefore, there are Service-Learning practices both the 1st and the 2nd year. One year, the service learning practicum takes place in the first year of the Master's Degree and the following year it takes place in the second. The first-year practicum consists of observation and co-participation. During the second semester, students attend five psychomotor therapy sessions, acting as observers for the first three sessions and as co-participants for the final two. These sessions take place once a week for five weeks and last approximately one and a half hours. Afterwards, each session is analyzed for one hour. In this service learning programme, student develop competences in a contextualized way on real problems in the exercice of the profession, learning in a cooperatively, felt, reflective and critical construction of knowledge. In turn, children receive a free service that they may not have available. The sessions are carried out by internal tutors of the Master, and collaborate with schools and other institutions with which there is a collaboration agreement. The project has assisted about 50 children with different disorders in free therapy sessions.

During the first semester, the sessions are led by a practicum tutor and the students act as co-participants. During the second semester, the students lead the sessions themselves with the same group they had during the first semester and are supervised by the tutor in the schools with which we have a collaboration agreement. In this service learning programme, students learn and develop competences and the children enjoy a free service. So far, approximately 100 children have benefited from psychomotor therapy sessions.
