General report of academic year 2023-24

Compiling and summarising the work done in the last academic year by an institution such as ours in a document such as this gives us the opportunity to review and evaluate the tremendous and outstanding work we have done in our respective fields and positions. More than just congratulating ourselves, it is important that this review of what has happened gives us a glimpse of what needs to happen.
The 2023–24 academic year was a year in which the institution focused on strategic planning. For example, the strategic plans for teaching and for the Learning and Research Resource Centres (CRAI) were approved and substantial efforts were undertaken for the upcoming submission of the Strategic Plan for Research and Innovation. Other measures that have moved us into the future include commissioning unique facilities such as the new vivarium and starting the comprehensive remodelling of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, undoubtedly the most important investment with our own funds in recent years. The same applies to the Energy Efficiency Plan, which, beyond continuing to make use of our photovoltaic panels, will enable us to save 24% of our energy. We were planning our future when we created new networks for teaching innovation in artificial intelligence and interdisciplinarity, and when we prioritised measures to ensure the emotional well-being of the people who make up this great community. And the list goes on.
Without the efforts of this great community, we would not be where we are today. The connections between what has happened and what is to come are exhilarating. Now we need everyone’s drive and enthusiasm to make them a reality.
