Anna M. Masdeu Bultó (University Professor)

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV, Tarragona, Spain) since 2020. She obtained her PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Barcelona (Faculty of Chemistry of Tarragona) in 1992 and, since 1990, has held several academic and management positions, among which her period as director of the Department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry (2007-2011) stands out. Her research has focused on the development of metal complexes as catalysts for processes such as carbonylation (hydroformylation, alkoxycarbonylation, CO/alkene copolymerization), hydrogenation and other reactions, with special emphasis on the use of solvents with low environmental impact, such as water and carbon dioxide. Currently, his research is focused on the design of catalysts for the production of industrially interesting products from carbon dioxide (such as organic carbonates) and the transformation of CO2 through photocatalytic processes for the synthesis of intermediates for the synthesis of fuels or as energy vectors (synthesis gas, etc.). In the field of scientific dissemination, together with the Exerimenta Challenge team, he received the Jaume Vicens Vives Distinction for university teaching quality (collective modality) from the Generalitat de Catalunya for the project "Classroom Experiment Challenge: Enhancing Soft Skills in a STEAM Environment" (2023).
