Maria Biosca (Ramón y Cajal Researcher)
Dr. Maria Biosca obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Rovira i Virgili University in 2013. She subsequently completed her M.Sc. (2013-2014) and Ph.D. (2014-2018) at the same institution under the supervision of Prof. M. Diéguez and Prof. O. Pàmies. Her doctoral research focused on the synthesis of modular ligand libraries for diverse catalytic processes, integrating DFT calculations to accelerate catalyst optimization. During her Ph.D., she carried out a short research stay with Prof. P.-O. Norrby at AstraZeneca, funded by COST Action CM1205, and completed a four-month research stay in the group of Prof. M. Alcarazo at the University of Göttingen. After earning her Ph.D., she joined the research groups of Prof. F. Himo and Prof. K. J. Szabó at Stockholm University, where she worked on the development of organocatalytic methodologies for the synthesis of biologically relevant organofluorine compounds, combining experimental organic synthesis with DFT calculations. After just over two years, she returned to Tarragona as a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación postdoctoral researcher, collaborating with the groups of Prof. M. Diéguez and Prof. J. M. Poblet. Since 2025, she has been a Ramón y Cajal researcher in the InnCat group.
