Chair in Democratic Memory

Approved by the Governing Council of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili on 19 April 2026, the Chair in Democratic Memory was established with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the University and the State Secretariat for Democratic Memory, promoting the dissemination of all areas of shared interest related to democratic memory.

The Chair aims to become a space for reflection, research, and knowledge transfer, fostering activities both within and outside university campuses to connect with social and political demands related to the recognition and preservation of democratic memory.

Through research, outreach, and social engagement, the Chair will work to advance historical knowledge on issues that, beyond their undoubted academic and historiographical interest, have a direct impact on the civic and historical culture of society as a whole.
