Chair in Caring for Health and Well-being

Approved by the Governing Council of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili on February 19, 2026, the Chair in Caring for Health and Well-being, jointly promoted with the Ajuntament del Vendrell, was created with the aim of placing knowledge at the service of the territory and improving the well-being of the population of Baix Penedès.

The Chair's mission is to promote health and well-being through education, applied research, and territorial cooperation. In the current context, it serves as a leading space for analyzing the territory's health needs and promoting actions aimed at improving the population's well-being.

Its activities are structured around four main areas:

  1. Education, with courses, workshops, and seminars for professionals and the public.
  2. Research, promoting projects and actions that facilitate the application of scientific knowledge for the benefit of the territory and its population.
  3. Knowledge transfer, with programs such as Active Ageing in El Vendrell and Mental Health Pathways for Citizens, among others.
  4. Outreach, with guides, infographics, and videos to raise public awareness on health and well-being issues.

The Chair is based at the Baix Penedès Campus of the URV, in Coma-ruga (El Vendrell), and aims to consolidate a model of inter-institutional collaboration that helps reduce inequalities and promote a more comprehensive, community-based, and territory-adapted approach to health.
