ONCE UPON A TIME
This exhibition has been woven with threads connecting pasts and presents. It deals with time and memory... sometimes, it is nostalgia, in other cases vindication. Sometimes, it becomes thoughtfulness, but also rapture. Here, it borrows an image, and there, it gives birth to a new one from pain, or turns it into a farce.
Collective narratives about memory, committed, activated by the force of the rephotographic exercise that underlies the eclectic nature of the proposals.
Rephotography provides room for a series of actions, which are based on the fact of going back, physically and symbolically, to a place and there, immersing oneself to explore its multiple update options.
The stories that make up Once Upon a Time recreate landscapes, bonds, practices and customs. They imagine the artist's point of view for the first capture. They wrap around us in the tangle of times, of forgetfulness and memories invoked in each project.
Collective exhibition held by students of the Photography, Film, and Cultural Heritage course 2024-2025 of the Degree in Art History and Archaeology at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), coordinated by prof. Vanina Hofman Matusevich.
