Currículum Vitae

I was born in Terrassa in 1969.

I graduated in Economic and Business Sciences in 1992 and earned a PhD in Economics (2003) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where I was an instructor. In 2004, as I was looking for a dynamic young university with a potential for growth, I joined the URV as an assistant lecturer. In 2007 I became a senior lecturer and since 2011 I have been a full professor.

In my 18 years at the URV I have taught several bachelor's degree subjects at both the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Tourism and Leisure. I have also taught several master's degree subjects at both Faculties as well as at the School of Chemical Engineering. I have also directed four doctoral theses.

Regarding my experience in management, I have been Head of the Department of Economics (2017-2022) and Director of the Chair in Local and Regional Economics, which is based at the Terres de l'Ebre Campus, since 2011. I have been Coordinator of the Doctorate in Economics and Business (2015-18) at the Faculty of Economics and Business and secretary of the University School of Tourism and Leisure, which later became the Faculty of Tourism and Geography (2005-10).

I am a member of the Research Centre on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS). I have specialized in environmental and ecological economics and in tourism economics. I am the author or co-author of roughly 60 publications in indexed journals, most of which are international (index h = 25), and in 2020 I appeared on the list of the most prominent two percent of scientists in my field, according to a database produced by Stanford University. I have been the leading researcher on several European Union and Spanish National Plan competitive projects. I often travel to Vienna, where I collaborate closely with researchers from BOKU University (Institute of Social Ecology).
