Curriculum Vitae
I was born in Madrid in 1968 and hold a degree in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Barcelona. I joined the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 1993 and have developed my entire academic career there, eventually becoming a Full Professor. Throughout my career, I have combined teaching, research and academic management, with a particular focus on the fields of social sciences, psychology and research methodology.
I have taught mainly on psychology degree programmes, as well as on other programmes in the social sciences and health sciences. Alongside my teaching, I have held various academic responsibilities related to the coordination of academic programmes and study pathways. I have also built extensive experience in university management, serving in roles including programme coordinator, Vice-Dean, programme director and, most recently, Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy and Interdisciplinary Projects from 2022 to 2026.
My research focuses on the measurement of latent traits and the technological innovations applied to this field. I lead the ITEM research group and have authored more than one hundred publications in indexed scientific journals. Since 2019, I have been listed among the world's top 2% most influential scientists according to the Stanford University ranking, a distinction that reflects a sustained research career and my contribution to building and consolidating research teams. I have also served as Chair of the Vice-Rectors for Research within the AURORA Alliance, gaining extensive experience in international coordination and cooperation between universities.
