Jordi Castellà Roca
Biography
I was born in Lleida in 1975. I studied Technical Engineering in Computer Systems at the Universitat de Lleida and completed a degree in Computer Engineering at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. After an initial period in the private sector, where I co-founded a company specialising in secure electronic voting systems, I turned my career towards research and teaching. In 2003, I joined the URV as a research support staff member after beginning my doctoral studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2006, I was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics, where I have developed my academic career to become a contracted full professor.
I have taught on a range of undergraduate and master's degree programmes at the School of Engineering and have supervised numerous bachelor's and master's final projects, as well as doctoral theses. In parallel, I have participated in more than thirty competitive research projects and several knowledge transfer initiatives, many of them as principal investigator. My research activity has resulted in more than ninety scientific publications and the co-authorship of seven patents.
Throughout my career, I have also held several university management positions. I served as Head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics from 2015 to 2023 and, from 2022 to 2026, I was Commissioner for Open Government and Information and Communication Technologies. This experience has enabled me to contribute to the university's digital transformation and to the development of strategic projects in the field of information and communication technologies.
