Xavier Farré Albendea

The Director's main responsibilities are to coordinate the activities of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus, foster relations with the faculties, schools, departments and institutions involved, and strengthen the Campus's engagement with the region and its institutions.

Biography

I was born in Barcelona in 1962. I hold a PhD in Economics from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and am a lecturer in the Department of Economics. My academic background combines degrees in Physics and Economics from the University of Barcelona, providing me with an interdisciplinary perspective that has shaped my approach to economic analysis. I have been closely involved with the Terres de l'Ebre Campus since its creation and, over more than twenty years, have contributed to its growth and consolidation, first as Deputy Director and, since 2022, as Director.

I have taught primarily on the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management at the Terres de l'Ebre Campus. Alongside my teaching, I have promoted educational innovation initiatives, knowledge transfer activities and collaborative projects with companies and institutions across the region, with the aim of strengthening the relationship between the university and its local environment.

My research focuses on the economic impact of tourism and regional development. I have participated in studies, reports and research projects analysing the socio-economic reality of the Terres de l'Ebre and, in recent years, have promoted interdisciplinary research and knowledge transfer initiatives in collaboration with the region's leading stakeholders. This experience has enabled me to contribute to the development of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus as a centre for knowledge generation, research and regional engagement.
