Biography

I was born in Sabadell in 1965. I am Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. I studied Computer Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where I obtained both my bachelor's degree and PhD, and later broadened my education with studies in Mathematics and Philosophy. I joined the URV in 1994 and have since developed my entire academic, teaching and research career within the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics and the School of Engineering.

I have taught undergraduate, master's and doctoral courses in statistics, computer security and privacy-enhancing technologies. Throughout my career I have also supervised numerous doctoral theses, contributing to the training of researchers in a strategic field for scientific and technological development.

My research focuses on computer security, data privacy and information protection technologies. I founded and have led leading research groups and centres, including CRISES and CYBERCAT, and have built an internationally recognised research career with an extensive scientific output. I have been awarded four consecutive ICREA Academia distinctions, the Narcís Monturiol Medal and several other national and international scientific honours.

Alongside my academic career, I have held a number of university and institutional leadership positions, including Director of the School of Engineering, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Mathematics, and Academic Director of the Serra Húnter Programme. These roles have given me a broad perspective on the challenges facing universities and on the strategic importance of research, innovation and internationalisation in the development of the URV.
