International Strategy
Since its foundation, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili has aimed to direct its activity to the needs and socio-economic reality of the territory of Southern Catalonia, and to offer an international projection to its teaching, research and knowledge transfer work.
Therefore, since the approval and entry into force of the first Strategic Internationalization Plan (2009-13) and the subsequent second Strategic Internationalization Plan, both with the motto "URV: opening doors to the world and to the territory" (2014-19), the increase in the international dimension of the URV has been significant and constant.
The objectives achieved by the institution with the implementation of the two previous strategic internationalization plans were consolidated and expanded with the International Vision of the Rovira i Virgili University 2025. The International Vision set the year 2025 as the time horizon for work when implementing the proposed actions and achieving the challenges established by the Internationalization Commission and the rest of the agents involved in the process of preparing and implementing the Vision.
This Strategic Plan will be the fourth document after the first Strategic Internationalization Plan (2009-13) and the second Strategic Internationalization Plan (2014 to 2019). The one we are presenting now constitutes an evolution of the last internationalization strategy document, created in 2020: the URV International Vision 2025. The closing of the document was used to take stock and determine in which direction the institution should move forward, guided by the idea of having its feet on the ground and its head in the world.
Our Vision
Three ideas hover over the set of actions proposed in the document. The first is that internationalization can only be achieved with the participation of everyone; therefore, the complicity of all units, centers and departments is necessary to achieve this goal. With this objective in mind, the aim is to establish a communication channel through the Center Internationalization Plan (PIC) that should facilitate everything from attracting talent to mobility. The second idea is to support teaching staff involved in Erasmus+ projects, which require the incorporation of specialized technicians in project management, which, due to their duration, do not result in stable positions, but are highly specialized. The third idea is to simplify the management of people's mobility, through a single-window structure with clear and fast procedures.
Monitoring the implementation process of the PEI 2026-30
The Strategic Plan is valid for 4 academic years.
The implementation will be carried out in accordance with the time schedule described in the annex and will be monitored periodically. Each achievement measure will have a unit responsible for providing the corresponding data, which will be centralized for evaluation.
To this end, a Monitoring Committee will be established, made up of the internationalization coordinators of the twelve URV centers and a representative of the Doctoral School.
This committee will prepare an assessment of the results and, if necessary, may propose modifications or extensions to the Strategic Plan, which must be approved by the URV Senate.
The results and assessments of the Committee will be presented to the university community as often as this committee deems appropriate.
- Internationalization Committee named by the Consell de Govern.
