Enrolling in more than the maximun number of credits allowed by course (master's degree)

  • DESCRIPTION: This process allows students to register for more than the maximum number of 78 credits per academic year established by the regulations governing continuing attendance.

When

  • Ordinary period: 
    • For bachelor's degrees: 2 May to 30 September.
    • For master's degrees: 2 May to 31 October.
  • Extraordinary period: 
    • For bachelor's degrees: during February (calendar to be confirmed).
    • For master's degrees: 5 to 20 February

If the procedure that they have requested is authorised and formalised, students must pay the fee for modifying or extending their registration status, which is issued by the secretary's office of the faculty/school.

Observations

At the request of the student, the faculty/school may decide to increase the maximum number of credits after reviewing the student's academic transcript and if there are other circumstances that justify this.

Students who wish to register for more than 78 credits must give their reasons for this in an application, which they must present to the dean's offices of the faculty/school. They must do this within the registration period.

In the event that a student wishes to exceed the established maximum of 78 credits, the faculty/school may, on an exceptional basis, authorise this if the student's academic record and other circumstances justify it.

In the case of curricular pathways corresponding to joint degree programmes, the maximum number of credits that students may register for per academic year shall be equal to the number of credits of the course with the highest credit load in each of the pathways.

Who

The coordinator of the master's degree.

When

Whenever possible, when the application is made. At most, five work days after presenting the application and the necessary documentation.

* Please bear in mind that August is not considered to be a working month.

How

If the request is accepted, the student concerned will received formal notification.

The student may not register for the additional credits online. Instead, the student must go in person to register at the secretary's office.
 

♦ Student who have not registered: 

 Can register online for up to a maximum of 78 credits at the time and on the day assigned to them, and then they must go to the secretary's office to register for the additional credits. (*)
 

♦ Students who have already registered: 

Once you have received authorisation by email, you must reply to the Secretariat indicating which courses you wish to add to your enrolment. (*)

Extraordinary period for bachelor's degrees:

  • provided it has been requested and previously authorised, students may self-register, within the relevant deadline, for more than the 78-credit limit.

Extraordinary period for master's degrees:

  • In the event of a favourable decision, the secretaries office will contact the student at their institutional email address (****@estudiants.urv.cat) and provide the relevant instructions


(*) If the student has requested to be allowed to register for more than the permitted number of credits per academic year within 5 consecutive days after registering, the fee for modifications or increases to registration will not be applied.
 

If the request is rejected, the student will receive formal notification.

Economic effects

The student must pay the fee for formalizing his/her enrollment and/or for making the modification.

If there are any differences between translations, the Catalan version prevails.
