Legalizations of academic documents issued by URV: NOTARIAL PROCEDURE

  • ITEM: The Ministerial Order of 16 April 1990 specifies that Ministry of Education will only recognize signatures on official university documents. All other academic documents will be legalized by means of a notarial procedure.

Academic documents emitted by the academic authorities with signatures that have been accredited by a notary and that are valid in signatory countries of the Hague Convention.

This procedure consists of two stages:

  1. Recognition of the academic authorities' signatures by a notary appointed by the university.

  2. Recognition of the signature of the aforementioned notary by the Association of Notaries to which he/she belongs (Association of Notaries of Catalonia), which will add the apostille of the Hague Convention.

Non-official academic documents such as certificates or diplomas corresponding to URV courses that are for use in countries that have not signed the Hague Convention.

This procedure consists of five stages:

  1. Recognition of the academic authorities' signatures by a notary appointed by the university.

  2. Recognition of the signature of the aforementioned notary by the Association of Notaries to which he/she belongs (Association of Notaries of Catalonia), which will add the apostille of the Hague Convention.

  5. Recognition of the previous signatures may also be requested at the diplomatic or consular offices of Spain in the country in which the document is to be used.
