Xavier Amorós Solà was born in Reus in 1923. He was unable to finish his studies because he had to join the family business. The writer was part of the visible face of anti-Francoist cultural resistance in the province of Tarragona.

Along with Josep Anton Baixeras and Josep Subirats, he was made an Honorary Doctor by the Rovira i Virgili University on 23 February, 2004 in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution and on precisely the same day as the attempted coup d’état in 1981. The Vice-Rector Joana Zaragoza was his sponsor.

Amorós has been awarded many prizes for his work throughout his career, such as, for example, the Gabriel Xammar Memorial Prize in 1988 in recognition of the fact that he is a reference point in the literature and culture of Tarragona and the Catalan territories.
