Issuance of the doctoral degree certificate

Application procedure:
Who: The student
Where: At the secretary's office of the faculty/school to which the official doctoral programme is administratively affiliated.
When: After the student has satisfactorily completed the oral examination of the doctoral thesis
How:

1) By presenting the following documents:
Application form
• Photocopy of identity card/passport
• Attested photocopy of the entry qualification to the doctoral programme, if students have obtained the degree of doctor in accordance with Royal Decrees 185/85, 56/2005 and 1393/2007.
• Attested photocopy of the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA), if the student has followed a course of studies regulated by Royal Decree 778/1998.
• Large family certificate so that exemptions can be applied (if there are any)
• The thesis in a single unprotected pdf file
• A maximum 150 word summary in Catalan or Spanish, as well as another in English, also in a computer file
• The contract signed in triplicate between the URV and the author for the electronic publishing and subsequent public communication of the thesis. This contract will have been given to the student by the Postgraduate and Doctoral School when the thesis was deposited.
2) By paying the fee established in the Decree on Public Prices into the corresponding bank.

Observations: Students who have obtained the degree of doctor governed by Royal Decrees 56/2005 and 1393/2007 do not have to present any documentation on research aptitude, given that this is not required.

Obtaining the receipt for the doctoral degree certificate:
Who: The student
Where: At the secretary's office of the faculty/school where the application was made:
When: On the date given by the secretary's office (usually seven days after the application has been submitted).
How:          - By submitting the receipt confirming that the corresponding fee has been paid and any other outstanding documentation.
- As from the academic year 2009-2010, the application for the official university certificate automatically generates the application for the European Supplement. The Decree on Public Prices establishes that a single fee shall be paid.

Award of the doctoral degree certificate:
Who: The student
Where: At the secretary's office of the faculty/school where the application was made.
When: On the date when the secretary's office says the student can collect the certificate.
How:

By presenting the following documents:
• Receipt for the doctoral degree certificate
• Identity card/passport

Observations:

If the student cannot collect the certificate in person, he or she may
• allow another person to do so by means of a letter of attorney.
• make a written request to the secretary's office of the school or faculty where he or she has studied for the certificate to be sent to the Ministerial Delegation nearest to his or her place of residence.
