The URV offers 46 university official Master's Degrees for the academic year 2009-10. More than half of these Master's are shared Degrees; some in collaboration with Research Institutes (ICIQ, ICAC, ICMAB) and others in association with European Universities, covering almost all areas of knowledge at the URV.
The university official Master's Degree's are the result of adapting current Spanish university studies to the European Plan for Higher Education, in accordance with the Bologna declaration of 1999 and complementary declarations. The ultimate aim of this reform of the structure of university qualifications is to harmonize the length, the learning methods and the academic activities in European universities. In this way it is expected to facilitate the mobility of students and their integration into the European labour market.
There are three different types of university official Master's Degree: professional, designed for students to learn and acquire skills so that they can practise the corresponding professional speciality; research, designed for students to acquire knowledge for research, and academic, which is a hybrid of the first two types.
