Poblet Rius, Josep Maria

Josep M. Poblet was awarded his degree in Chemistry and PhD from the University of Barcelona (Spain). After a postdoctoral stay with Professor Marc Bénard at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg he became Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in 1986. Since 2001 he is full professor at this university. His current research is theoretical inorganic chemistry with particular interest in the molecular modeling of molecular metal oxides, endohedral metallofullerenes and other carbon nanoforms, and in general he is interested in the electronic and structural properties of nanostructures based as well as in the computational modeling of nucleation mechanisms. Josep M. Poblet is co-author of more than 230 peer-review articles. He was awarded the 2012 Physical Chemistry award of the RSEQ and was named Distinguished Professor of the URV in 2014. In 2015, he was awarded the ICREA ACADEMIA research excellence award.
