The archaeologist Robert Sala

The archaeologist Robert Sala, lecturer in the Area of Prehistory of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona), is also director of the l'IPHES (Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution), a post he took up on 2 November 2015.

Robert Sala has been working with the IPHES ever since it was created in 2005. He has been a member of the management committee and while he was responsible for teaching he set up the Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree and Doctorate in Quaternary and Prehistory taught at the URV.

The IPHES is an interdisciplinary institution that promotes advanced research, the training of new professionals, knowledge transfer and social commitment to science. Therefore, they combine various fields in science, humanities and the social sciences with the geosciences and the biological sciences to study human and social evolution. The objective is to promote knowledge about the human species in the past and humans in the present, and investigate our future.
