Research Center on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS)



Presentation

The Research Center on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS), created in 2020, is a center located at the Department of Economics of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. This center has been created from a previous research center, the Research Center on Industrial and Public Economics (CREIP), founded in 2010.

ECO-SOS has a team of more than forty researchers from different topics about economics and sustainability. These research lines can be grouped into the following: Environmental and Climate Economics, Health Economy, Regional and Urban Economics, Education and Labor Market, Business and Innovation, Energy and Natural Resources, Industrial Organization, Economic Policy and Sustainability, Game Theory and Environmental Conflicts, and Transport and Tourism.

ECO-SOS provides some facilities for the research activities of their members, including a forum for the dissemination of the scientific knowledge through seminars and working papers.

ECO-SOS activities include the organization of seminars, workshops, international conferences and organizational support for members ’research activities.

CREIP (center predecessor of ECO-SOS) was directed by Maria Llop, Professor of the Department of Economics of the Rovira i Virgili University, and its academic secretary was Josep Maria Arauzo, also Professor of the same university, until November 2013. From that date until October 2019 it was headed by Bernd Theilen, Professor of the Department of Economics and, as academic secretary, Ricardo Flores, Associate Professor of the same department.


The current Chair of ECO-SOS is Josep Maria Arauzo, Professor of the Department of Economics and the Academic Secretary is José Manuel Giménez, Associate Professor of the same department.
