One of the aims of the Office of the Vice-rector for Students and the University Community is for students to take part in university life. Therefore, it encourages student associations and representation. It also manages 1^st- and 2^nd-cycle and collaboration grants.

Another of its aims is to link the University with its social environment. To this end, it promotes cultural activities, which are provided by university extension groups and Open Opera, and is responsible for relations and activities with secondary schools and the university entrance examinations (PAU).

The office is also responsible for helping students to find work, curricular and extra-curricular practicums, services for the disabled, the accommodation office, the careers service and the URV shop.

Finally, the Office is entrusted with providing services to society in general: for example, the Sports Office, the Language Service, URV Publications and Citizens URV.
