Rector



The rector is the highest academic authority, and he is responsible for directing, governing and managing the University. He also has to ensure that the university is a place where ideas can be expressed and circulated freely.

Francesc Xavier Grau i Vidal is currently the rector of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili after being elected by the members of the University on 6 May 2010. This is his second term of office. He was elected for the first time on 15 May 2006.

Born in Lleida (1958), he is a professor of Fluid Mechanics (URV 2001). His research interests focus on physics, the modelling and control of heat transport phenomena, and the material and quantity of movement in industrial flows and in the environment, among other scientific branches.

Before he became rector, he had been vice-rector for Academic Regulations and Research, for Academic Regulations and Teaching Staff, and for Infrastructures and New Technologies, and also director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering
