Registration of the doctoral thesis proposal

Application procedure
Who:	Any student who wishes to write and defend a doctoral thesis to obtain a doctoral degree.
Where:	At the secretary's office of the department to which the thesis supervisor belongs.
When:	During the first year in which the doctoral student is registered for academic tutorials and during the six month period after the date of registration.
How:	By presenting the following documents: Application form for the registration of the doctoral thesis proposal, with the approval of the supervisor or co-supervisor of the thesis (if necessary). Doctoral thesis proposal, endorsed by the supervisor or co-supervisor of the thesis.
Observations:	If the departments agree, the application can be made at another of the departments involved in the Official Postgraduate Programme. In these cases, the document will be part of the record to be processed by the Postgraduate and Doctoral School. The department will send all the information about the thesis registration to the doctorate coordinator. In July, the departments have to check whether all the students enrolled have registered their theses. If they have not done so before this date, they will be told to register between 1-15 September. Before the end of September, the departments will send the information about the students who do not register their proposals in this period to the Academic Management Service so that they can ensure that these students are not registered for thesis tutorials during the second or following years.

Resolution of the application:
Who:	The body responsible for the doctorate.
When:	As soon as the Department Council accepts the registration proposed by the responsible body.
How:	By expressly showing at the bottom of the application that the registration has been accepted and subsequently submitting the application to the Postgraduate and Doctoral School.

Completing the application:
Who:	The Postgraduate and Doctoral School.
When:	Once the application submitted by the department has been received.
How:	Registering the application and then sending one copy to the student and another to the department.
Observations:	The Postgraduate and Doctoral School will publicize the theses registered on the website.
