Doctoral Program in Translation and Intercultural Studies



General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the program is to train students in the techniques of high-quality advanced research. The subsidiary aims are thus:

  • To make the student part of a research group.
  • To increase the student's capacity to advance in one of the research focuses of the program.
  • To foster initiative to develop new research projects and methodologies, together with the key researchers in the field.
  • To enable the acquisition of general skills involnved in personal and group work, including paticipation in research projects and the mnagement of bibliographical resources.
  • To complete a doctoral thesis.

Program Structure

Students are assumed to bave completed a Masters with a strong research component. If this is not the case, the initial training in research skills is given in the following Masters program:

Admission

  • Maximum number of students: 20
  • Selection criteria:
    • Since the program operates entirely in English, at both the Masters and doctoral levels, a high professional level of English is required. This is tested on the basis of previous studies and/or a personal interview.
    • Candidates must also fulfill the requirements set out in Article 19 and additional disposition 4 of Real Decreto 1393/2007. Admissions to the program are based on the following criteria:
      • Academic qualifications......................50%
      • Work experience...............................30%
      • Research topic proposed....................20%
