General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the program is to train students in the techniques of high-quality advanced research. The subsidiary aims are thus:

To make the student part of a research group.
To increase the student's capacity to advance in one of the research focuses of the program.
To foster initiative to develop new research projects and methodologies, together with the key researchers in the field.
To enable the acquisition of general skills involnved in personal and group work, including paticipation in research projects and the mnagement of bibliographical resources.
To complete a doctoral thesis.

Program Structure

Students are assumed to bave completed a Masters with a strong research component. If this is not the case, the initial training in research skills is given in the following Masters program:

Maximum number of students: 20
Selection criteria:
- Since the program operates entirely in English, at both the Masters and doctoral levels, a high professional level of English is required. This is tested on the basis of previous studies and/or a personal interview.
- Candidates must also fulfill the requirements set out in Article 19 and additional disposition 4 of Real Decreto 1393/2007. Admissions to the program are based on the following criteria:
  - Academic qualifications......................50%
  - Work experience...............................30%
  - Research topic proposed....................20%
