General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:

  • To incorporate the students into a research group.
  • To broaden their skills so that they can specialize in different aspects of the lines of research set out in the programme.
  • To strengthen students' initiative in developing research projects with a methodology and scientific principles appropriate to their field of research.
  • To foster general individual and team working abilities, participation in research projects, bibliographical database management, etc.
  • To produce a doctoral thesis.

The formation period of the doctorate programme is linked to the following Master's degree introduced on the University (in order to the RD 1393/2007):

Admission

  • Maximum number of students: 30
  • Criteria for admission and selection:

The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.

Specific criteria:

Once fulfilled the requirements of access, the organ responsible for the Program of Doctorate will study the documentation presented by the candidate students to determine if the academic specific criteria of admission bring together to the Doctorate. The favorable report of admission implies that the aspirant will have to formalize the registration in studies of Doctorate and to access to the guidance of thesis.

In the case of students who access to the research period by means of having completed at least one year of specialized training in the speciality of Health Sciencies, they must present a research work to which they have contributed outstandingly, which will be evaluated by a Comission of the doctoral programme. This Comission will judge one of the following cases:

  • One research work carried out for that purpose and guided by a Professor Doctor of the URV.
  • One research work presented to an International Congress.
  • Two research works presented to  National Congresses.
  • One research work published in an indexed scientific journal.
