Doctoral Program in Nutrition and Metabolism



General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:

  • To incorporate the students into a research group.
  • To broaden their skills so that they can specialize in different aspects of the lines of research set out in the programme.
  • To strengthen students' initiative in developing research projects with a methodology and scientific principles appropriate to their field of research.
  • To foster general individual and team working abilities, participation in research projects, bibliographical database management, etc.
  • To produce a doctoral thesis.

Structure of Doctorate

The formation period of the doctorate programme is linked to the following Master's degree introduced on the University (in order to the RD 1393/2007):

Admission

  • Maximum number of students: 15
  • Criteria for admission and selection:

The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.

Specific Criteria:

In case of students who accede to the research period, according to the tenth additional regulation of the RD 1393/2007, because of having completed at least a year of formation specializing in the specialities of Health Sciences, they will have to present a work of research, to which the student has contributed in a relevant form, which will be valued by a Commission of the program of doctorate. The above mentioned Commission will judge one of the following suppositions:

  • A work of research realized to the effect and under the guidance of a Teacher Doctor of the URV.
  • A work of research presented in a Congress of International area.
  • Two works of research presented in Congresses of National area.
  • A work of research published in a scientific index-linked magazine.

In order to be definitely admitted you need to have the consent of the thesis director.
