Doctoral Program in Neurosciences



General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:

  • To incorporate the doctoral students into a research group.
  • To provide students with intensive specialization in different aspects of the lines of research defined in the programme.
  • To encourage students to use their initiative to undertake research projects using the methodology and the scientific principles of the discipline and the particular line of research.
  • To provide students with general skills related to the capacity to work individually and in teams, participation in research projects, management of bibliographic databases, etc.
  • To write a doctoral thesis.

The formation period of the doctorate programme is linked to the following Master's degree introduced on the University (in order to the RD 1393/2007):

Admission

  • Maximun number of students: 50
  • Admission and slection criteria: In case of students who accede to the period of research, according to the tenth additional disposition of the RD 1393/2007, for credit completed at least a year of formation specializing in the specialities of Sciences of Health they will have to present a work of research in which they have contributed of relevant form. This work will be valued by a Commission of the program of doctorate. The above mentioned Commission will judge one of the following suppositions:

    • A work of research realized to the effect with a Teacher Doctor of the URV guidance.

    • A work of research presented in a Congress of International area.

    • Two works of research presented in Congresses of National area.

    • A work of research published in a scientific index-linked magazine.

The Commission of the program of doctorate will decide the admission to the period of students' research that they should be in possession of a title of master's degree differently from the linked one directly to the program of neurosciences depending on the affinity of the same one to the subject of neurosciences.
