General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:

To incorporate the students into a research group.
To broaden their skills so that they can specialize in different aspects of the lines of research set out in the programme.
To strengthen students' initiative in developing research projects with a methodology and scientific principles appropriate to their field of research.
To foster general individual and team working abilities, participation in research projects, bibliographical database management, etc.
To produce a doctoral thesis.

Structure of Doctorate

The formation period of the doctorate programme is linked to the following Master's degree introduced on the University (in order to the RD 1393/2007):

A. Máster en Estudios de Mujeres, Género y Ciudadanía

A.1. Líneas de investigación
1. Perspectivas de género y análisis psico/socio/cultural de discursos y prácticas en ámbitos diferentes: artístico, filosófico, histórico, jurídico, médico, etc.
2. Análisis e intervención socio/psico/económica con un enfoque de género (desarrollo, planificación i diseño…) en programas de políticas públicas.
3. Investigación básica en teorías y metodologías que conforman el campo de los estudios de género.
4. Aplicación de los fundamentos teóricos y metodológicos con perspectiva de género en la investigación sobre problemáticas sociales tales como la violencia, interculturalidad, igualdad, sexismo institucional, prejuicios por razón de sexo, etc. en diferentes ámbitos: rural, urbano, ...

Admission

Maximum number of students: 60
Criteria for admission and selection:

The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.

Speceific criteria

To be in possession of the qualifications of master's degree. The qualifications will be born in mind, giving priority to the master's degree of the own Official Program of Postgraduate. To be admitted to the doctorate being in possession of a title of master differently (Spanish or foreigner) those who are gathered in the Official Program of Postgraduate in Social Intervention, depending on the profile of the project of thesis of the candidato/a, the corresponding commission will value the need to realize complementary formation dealing someone or some of the subjects of the master's degree of the Program.
Academic process. The academic process of the candidates will be valued to prioritize the access to the doctorate of those students with better qualifications.
English knowledge up to the First Certificate
Personal interview with the candidates. The interview appears as a mecanism to obtain information and o to establish criteria to select the future students on the basis of their motivation and capacity for the studies of doctorate. The previous experience will be valued specially for research.
