The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:
- To incorporate the students into a research group.
- To broaden their skills so that they can specialize in different aspects of the lines of research set out in the programme.
- To strengthen students' initiative in developing research projects with a methodology and scientific principles appropriate to their field of research.
- To foster general individual and team working abilities, participation in research projects, bibliographical database management, etc.
- To produce a doctoral thesis.

Admission
- Maximum number of students: 15
- Criteria for admission and selection:
The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.
The admission to the Program of Doctorate in its period of research is ruled by procedures and specific criteria to the program. These criteria are:
- Holding a master's degree in Strategic Business Management or in Industrial Organisation or holding another master's degree in the field of Economics and Business.
- Holding the Advanced Studies Certificate (DEA) or certificate that proves having research aptitude in a doctoral programme in the field of Economics and Business.
- Holding a degree to access to the doctoral programme similar to the university master's degree that constitutes the formation period of the doctoral programme and that, besides, enables to access to the doctorate in the origin country.
- Holding the B1 level in English of the Common European Framework for languages.
- Having the acceptation of a professor as a supervisor.
- Handing in a report on the topic to develop, which must be authorized by the supervisor. This report must be approved by the Comission of the POP Economics and Business.
- If the number of applications exceeds the maximum students allowed, they will be ordered according to the following criterion:
- Academic records of the master's degree (40%)
- Academic records of the bachelor (20%)
- Professional experience (20%)
- Holding an English level or equivalent to: (20%)
- Cambridge Proficiency Certificate (C)
- Cambridge First Certificate (A)
- TOEFL (220 points in the Computer Based Test)
- British Council IELTS (6)
