Studies
The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:
The doctorate is based on tutor-supported research (for the doctoral thesis itself) which can be supplemented with lectures or seminars in areas linked to the doctorate's lines of research, given by nationally and internationally renowned specialists.

Global Strategies for Sustainable Development
On the basis of interdisciplinary legal experience in environmental law and knowledge brought by members of a previous research group in Citizenship, Immigration and Minorities, this group designs strategies for sustainable development formulated within legal frameworks intended to promote the preservation of the environment and the management of population flows.

Environmental Management of Productive Actors
So far most of research group's activities in this field have focused on projects related to the prevention and control of pollution and responsibility for environmental damage. This involves designing efficient legal instruments to control the use of resources and the environmental burden of the various productive actors.

Local Government and Sustainable Development
Since the Rio Summit, local administrations have become key players in designing strategies for sustainable development and environmental protection. The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.
To make an official application for admission, students must hand in the application form, duly completed, to the department in charge of organizing the doctoral programme. If necessary, the specific documentation required by the course must also be handed in.
