Doctoral Program in Cognitive Science and Language



General Aims of the Doctorate

The main aim of the doctorate is to produce doctors for high quality and advanced research. To this end, the general aims of the course are the following:

    • To incorporate the students into a research group.
    • To broaden their skills so that they can specialize in different aspects of the lines of research set out in the programme.
    • To strengthen students' initiative in developing research projects with a methodology and scientific principles appropriate to their field of research.
    • To foster general individual and team working abilities, participation in research projects, bibliographical database management, etc.
    • To produce a doctoral thesis.

The formation period of the doctorate programme is linked to the following Master's degree introduced on the University (in order to the RD 1393/2007):

Admission

    • Maximum number of students: 40 sztudents
    • Criteria for admission and selection:

The fulfilment of the established conditions, as a requirement of admission in the 19th article and 4th addicional order of the RD 1393/2007, is necessary to be able to entry at the Doctorate Program while its research mode.

To be admitted into the Program of Doctorate or in the Master's degree it is necessary to be licensed in Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation or Filologies. Exceptionally persons are accepted by other licentiates. The title of the interuniversity master's degree of Cognitive Science and Language enables of direct form to request the admission in the program of doctorate, without need of any more documentation for the matriculation that the one that establishes the own university with general character. The solicitors with another qualifications similar to that of saying master's degree will have to attach in addition (a) the updated CV, (b) a brief description of a possible topic of interest for the project of thesis, (c) a sample of some written work that reflects your interests and aptitudes of research and And aptitudes of research and (d) two letters of reference that support your request for this program of doctorate.

Specific Criteria:

    The committees of admission of every university will bear in mind in their resolutions the academic process of the person solicitor, his aptitudes for the research, as well as the adequacy of the topic of research to the lines of research offered in the program and the availability of the professorship to be able to supervise the accomplishment of new doctoral theses. The committee of admission will decide if a request is (a) accepted, (b) rejected, or (c) accepted of conditional form to the accomplishment of certain credits of training of the master's degree.
