What is this and what does it offer you?

  • The Common Core Postgraduate Curriculum is a course offered by the URV to its Master's students across all disciplines.
  • It gives the means to achieve an overall view of your education, in equilibrium with the specialization that you have chosen.
  • This program offers you the opportunity to exchabge ideas with students in other fields, with different ethical and philosophical perspective on science and the academic world.

To whom is it addressed?

  • This course is designed for all students enrolled in Masters progrmmes at the URV.
  • Students can acquire the common Core Postgraduate Curriculum by:
    • Studying the compulsory subjects of the Master's Degree which have included the competences of the CCPC
    • Studying the subject Career Guidance and Citizenship (CG&C), organized by the Postgraduate and Doctoral School.

According to the Academic and Enrolment Regulations for the Master's Degrees, students can ask for recognition of CG&C, following the established procedure and fulfilling the application form in the following deadlines:

  • Standard deadline: from June,1st to September, 20 th
  • Additional deadline: from October, 7 th to October, 27th

Structure of the programme

  • Career Guidance and Citizenshiop (3 ECTS) is taught partially on campus in person and is structures into two modules:
    Module 1 - Citizenshipo (4 face-to-face sessions)
    Module 2 - Career Guidance (4 face-to-face sessions)

  • There will be 9 editions, so that students can choose the group in which they enroll this subject.

Module 1:

  • The challenges of today's society: social and environmental sustainability ( the "risk society").
  • Democratic citizenship, human rights and gender equality.
  • Multiculturalism and adaptation to cultural change.
  • Globalization, economic development and cooperation.

Module 2:

  • Finding work
  • Setting up your own business and taking initiatives
  • Preparing your CV
  • Job interview, with role-play
  • New skills, new professions
  • Creativity

Learning objectives:

  1. Means to achieve a comprehensive education and life in balance with the specialization that the student has chosen.
  2. Giving different ethical and philosophicalperceptions  about science and academia.
  3. Provide training in generic matters, focusing on the general competences of CAREER GUIDANCE AND CITIZENSHIP.
  4. Study the globalizing economy, cooperation and development.
  5. Study the concepts of democratic citizenship, human rights, gender equality and professional ethics.
  6. To give practical tools for job searching or self-employment.

Competencies:

  • Having commintment with ethics and social responsability as a citizen and a professional (Citizenship).
  • Defining and developing an academic and professional project arisen at the university (Career Guidance).
  • Developing processes of incorporation into the working world (working for others and/or entreprise promotion) (Career Guidance)
