The Jean Monnet programme’s module on European integration and gender will be taught at the URV from 7 February to 22 May and will study the most recent European legal and political contributions in the subject. Registration is open both to members of the university community and professionals working in the field.
The module will be taught at the URV’s Catalunya Campus and is organized by thecoordinating professors Inma Pastor, Laura Román and Ana Giménez with thesupport of the Faculty of Legal Sciences and the URV’s Equality Observatory.
The module presents and analyzes the most recent legislation and jurisprudence and European political initiatives regarding equality. European law has been transformed in the last fifteen years and provides the continent with legal and public policy instruments needed to implement real equality for its citizens. These initiatives can provide an example for other countries and are thus an important area of study for students in this field.
The module is interdisciplinary and is organized across three ambits: sociology, private law and EU and constitutional law. In addition to those given by the coordinating professors, sessions will also be given by other teachers.
The URV’s project was one of thirteen chosen last July by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency as part of the selection process of the Jean Monnet programme. It was chosen from among 55 projects presented by Spanish universities, in addition to those presented by other countries, and it was selected on the basis of how it had been set up and funded.
