The Jean Monnet programme’s module on European integration and gender will be taught at the URV from 7 February to 22 May and will study the most recent European legal and political contributions in the subject. Registration is open both to members of the university community and professionals working in the field.
The Nutritional Programming Symposium: From theory to practice will take place from 18 to 20 April at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Reus. It is organized by the Early Nutrition Academy (ENA) and the Paediatrics Unit of the URV, led by Ricardo Closa-Monasterolo and Joaquín Escribano.
Enric Aguilar and Peter Domonkos are researchers at the Climate Change Centre C3 of the URV who have made a significant contribution to the article: Benchmarking homogenization algorithms for monthly data. The article was published on 10 January in the journal "Climate of the Past".
The Campus of International Excellence Southern Catalonia (CEICS) has organised its first Forum. This will be the first annual gathering of the CEICS community, which will bring together the campus’s core members and associates, its partners, national and international allies as well as members of the public related to the project’s strategic areas of interest.
The official inauguration of the 2011-12 academic year in the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences will take place in Reus on Friday, 11 November at 11.00 am, in the Main Lecture Theatre.
Meetings of the Spanish node of the FuturICT project have been held in various places in Barcelona over the 5, 6 and 7 October and were aimed at presenting the FuturICT project in Spain. This project is a candidate for the FET, Future and Emerging Technologies, Flagship Initiatives of the EU and as such is eligible for a budget of 1 billion euros over 10 years.
A special issue of the "Catalan Journal of Communication & Cultural Studies" (CJCS) has been presented at the URV. This is a scientific journal created by the Department of Communication of the URV and this particular issue discusses research into tourist destination brands under the title "Tourism & communication: place brands, identities and new trends".
On 27 September, the Hotel Port Aventura hosted a ceremony in which seventy-nine students were awarded their certificates for the various courses taught at the PortAventura theme park in collaboration with the URV Foundation. It is now five years since this initiative was started.
This book has just been released in English in the United States and is the translation of the work "La batalla del Wolframio. Estados Unidos y España, de Pearl Harbor a la Guerra Fría 1941-1947", by the professor of Contemporary History Josep Maria Thomàs. The work has received very good reviews from American historians.
Work has begun at the Science and Technology Park for Tourism and Leisure on the execution of the Plan for the Reinforcement of the Competitiveness of Wine-tourism in the counties of Tarragona, CENOTUR. The plan will be administered by the Consortium for Improving Competitiveness in Tourism and Leisure in the Province of Tarragona, and co-financed by the second ERDF Objective 1.
