Inauguration of the academic year in the Faculty of Chemistry, with Mariano Barbacid

The official inauguration of the 2011-12 academic year in the Faculty of Chemistry will take place on 15 November, coinciding with the festival of Saint Albertus Magnus, the patron saint of Chemistry. The inauguration will start at 12.00 pm in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology at the Sescelades Campus in Tarragona.
 

The inaugural lecture will be given by the scientist, Mariano Barbacid, AXA-CNIO professor of Molecular Oncology. It is entitled ‘From Molecular Oncology to individualized therapies: the impact on clinical practice’.

After the lecture, the publisher McGraw-Hill will award prizes to those new students with the highest entrance exam grades who have started courses in the Faculty this year.

The inauguration will also bring to a close the 2011 International Year of Chemistry, which the Faculty has celebrated with various events.
