Inauguration of the Els Dijous Cooperactius cycle
The 2012 Els Dijous Cooperactius cycle will be inaugurated on 9 February at 18.00 in the Conference Room of the Catalunya Campus. The theme for this year’s cycle will be human trafficking.

The Science Fiction Symposium: Past, present and beyond will be held on 16 March at the Catalunya campus. It is a one-day conference to discuss the evolution, the present situation and the prospects of an interdisciplinary genre which once tried to rival reality.
Workshop on Firm Growth and Innovation 2012
The Workshop on Firm Growth and Innovation 2012 will take place on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 June, from 9.00 to 21.00 at the Catalunya Campus in Tarragona. Among other issues, the workshops aim to provide a deeper and better understanding of the relationship between innovation and economic growth in order to provide new ideas regarding the link between the two phenomena.
Inauguration of the academic year in the Faculty of Chemistry, with Mariano Barbacid
The official inauguration of the 2011-12 academic year in the Faculty of Chemistry will take place on 15 November, coinciding with the festival of Saint Albertus Magnus, the patron saint of Chemistry. The inauguration will start at 12.00 pm in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology at the Sescelades Campus in Tarragona.

This symposium will take place on 3, 4 and 5 November in the Lecture Theatre of Catalunya Caixa in Tarragona. It is being organized by the ALGOS pain research group, led by Jordi Miró.
International Fall School in Formal Languages and Applications
FSFLA 2011 is being organized by the Mathematical Linguistics Research Group and will be held on 31 October, 1, 2, 3 and 4 November, at the Catalunya campus of Rovira i Virgili University, Tarragona. The chair is Professor Carlos Martín-Vide and the School is aimed addressed at undergraduate and graduate students from around the world.
Defence of doctoral thesis on the prehistoric archaeological site at Atapuerca
Davinia Moreno has written the doctoral thesis: Datation par ESR de quartz optiquement blanchis (ESR-OB) de la région d'Atapuerca (Burgos, Espagne). Application au site prèhistorique de Gran Dolina (contexte karstique) et aux systèmes fluviatiles quaternaires de l'Arlanzón et l'Arlanzah. She will defend the thesis on Friday, 14 October at 11.00 am in the Conference Room at the URV’s Catalunya Campus in Tarragona.

This joint work session between the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and Eurostat on secret statistics will take place in the Auditorium in the Rector’s Offices of the URV in Tarragona, from 26 to 28 October.
