  • Summary: This service learning programme is conducted via the final project of the professional track of the Master's Degree. During the 2012-2013 academic year, students prepared a report for such organizations as the Tarragona Mercantile Court, the Tarragona Bar Association, and the Centre for Technology Transfer and Innovation of the URV Foundation (CTTi). Real-life cases provide legal problems for students to solve and thus help external institutions. The interest generated by imparting learning through a legal clinic goes beyond being merely technical or scientific because there is a real social interest in the smooth functioning of the administration of justice and of sound business and contractual practices, especially when the contractual relationship is not between two companies but between two parties, one of which is weaker than the other. Improvements in the application of rules are believed to help to maximize resources, which favors the citizen and therefore also favors society in general. Moreover, the fact that the students are also asked to reflect on the social impact of their study or report is undoubtedly positive for their education.
