MODIFICATIONS TO REGISTRATION, moving between subjects (Master's degree)

  • DESCRIPTION: This procedure allows students to move from one subject to another during the academic year. The procedure involves the partial modification of the student's registration record once 5 calendar days have passed since the student registered.

 Implementation course: 2023-24

 

Application procedure

Who

The interested party or the authorized person on presentation of the necessary identification.

Where

At the Secretary's Office of the Faculty/School where they are carrying out their studies.

The application can also be submitted via the online administrative procedures on the URV's intranet or the URV online registry.

When

  • Ordinary period: After the period of five calendar days after registration until 30 October.
  • Extraordinary period: from 5 to 26 February, only for subjects taught in the second semester. (*observations)

How

Students must present the following documentation:

Cost

If the procedure that they have requested is authorised and formalised, students must pay the fee issued by the Secretary's Office for modifying the number of subjects for which they are registered. This fee is established by the current decree on public prices.

Students must be up to date with their payments on the date the application is made.

Observations

  • The substitution will only be accepted if there is no reduction in the number of credits registered. If this requirement is not met, the student must instead request to withdraw from and/or increase the number of subjects.
  • If the application is presented before 1 October, it will be resolved automatically by the Secretary's Office of the Faculty/School.
  • If it is presented between 1 October and 30 October, it will require the approval of head of the study programme.
  • (*) During the extraordinary period, students may only apply to change subjects taught during the second semester, except for the subjects External Practicals and Master's Thesis and those subjects which, despite being defined by the faculty/school as annual, are concentrated entirely in the second semester.
  • The authorisation of the master's degree coordinator is required if the change of subjects during the February extraordinary period affects the subjects External Practicals and Final Master's Project. Previously, but the faculty/school decides whether to permit this or not. (check with the faculty/shcool)
  • Master's students must remain registered for a minimum of 18 credits. The minimum number of credits must include any compulsory subjects and any that the has not passed from previous the academic year.
  • Student grantholders who change subjects should be aware that they must still be registered for the full number of credits as stipulated by the academic requirements for the current academic year and by the terms and conditions of the grant so that they are still eligible for the grant during the following academic year.

                                          

 

Resolution of the application

Who

The faculty/school at which the application form has been presented.

When

As far as possible, within 5 working days of presenting the application and any necessary documentation, and at the most up to 10 days after presenting the application. 

* August is not considered to be a working month.

How

  • If the request is approved, the secretary's office with complete the substitution between the subjects and generate the invoice for the corresponding registration modification charge should this be necessary.
  • The student's academic transcript will be updated to reflect the student's withdrawal from study. This will substitute any personal notification (the student can consult their transcript by going to Intranet - consulta d'expedient acadèmic).

The student can also print the registration fee invoice from the platform "My payments", where the change will be reflected.

The resolution regarding change of subjects may not be reversed.

  • If the application is not approved the student will be informed directly.

Cost

Students must pay any additional cost for changing between subjects worth different numbers of credits. 

The student will receive and email informing them if that they have to pay the registration modification charge.

Academic consequences

For the subjects from which the student has withdrawn:

  • the student may not receive any tuition in that subject or be evaluated for it.

For the new subjects which the student has changed to:

  • the student will be entitled to all the rights guaranteed by official registration starting from the date on which the change was completed.

Observations

The faculty/school will only authorise any change provided that there are enough places on the new subject and, if appropriate, the attendance regulations are fully complied with.

Students must be up to date with their registration payments on the date on which they make an application to change subjects or their applications will not be authorised.
