Part-time or full-time study Doctorate

  • ITEM: This form of study may be requested by a student on a doctoral programme regulated by RD 99/2001. Being a part-time student affects the deadline for the presentation of the doctoral thesis.

Application procedure

Who

The doctoral student or the duly authorized person on presentation of the necessary identification.

Where

At the General Registry of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili or at any of its auxiliary registries, addressed to the secretary's office of the department to which the doctoral programme coordinator is affiliated.

When

From 1 October 2015 to 1 April 2016

How

Students must present:

• An application form addressed to the doctoral programme coordinator.

Cost

None.

Obervations

Part-time (PT) students have five years from their admission to the programme to complete their doctoral theses.
If the application for part-time status is made once the student has already started the doctoral programme as a full-time (FT) student, the period for completing the thesis will be adjusted accordingly.

Resolution of application

Who

The academic commitee of the doctoral programme.

When

When the academic committee meets, usually from 15th to 20th of each month, October to April.
At the latest, two months after submitting the application.

How

Delivering:

  • The academic committee informs the EPD by presenting it with the original document in which the resolution was passed

  • The EPD updates the data in the system and sends a copy of the document in which the resolution was passed to the interested party, to the thesis tutor and/or the thesis supervisor and to the academic committee

  • The EPD keeps the original in the student record.

Observations

The student will remain part-time for the duration of the doctoral programme unless he/she requests a change to full-time status.
