Doctorat management procedures - administrative procedures

Documentation required: Entry and admission to doctoral programmes (RD 99/2011)

Students who have done the studies required at the URV and/or other Spanish universities:

Also, according to the entry requirements:

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the official Spanish university degree cerificate that bestows the right to access a master's study, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid (only those students who have not studied at the URV).
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the university master's degree that bestows the right to access the programme, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid (only those students who have not studied at the URV).

Or

  • If the candidate has yet to be awarded a master's degree, the original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of an official academic transcript confirming that he/she has satisfactorily completed at least 60 credits in one or several university master's degree programmes (only those students who have not studied at the URV).

Or

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) or a research aptitude certificate (only those students who have not studied at the URV)

Or

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of a certificate confirming that the candidate has been a resident in Spain for two years and the candidate's previous degree certificate (the latter only for students who have not studied at the URV).

Or

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the official Spanish doctoral degree certificate obtained under previous university regulations, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid (only those students who have not studied at the URV).

Students who have been awarded the qualifications required for entry at foreign higher education institutions of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

Students must present the following documents, legalized* and translated** (if necessary):

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the document accrediting identity and nationality. This document does not require translating or legalizing.
  • Acceptance agreement of the doctoral thesis tutor. This document does not require translating or legalizing.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the official university degree certificate that bestows the right to access to a master’s study, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the qualification required for access (university master's degree or equivalent) that has not been subject to the process of official recognition, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees  for the certificate have been paid.
  • If the candidates has yet to be awarded a master's degree, the original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of an official academic transcript confirming that he/she has satisfactorily completed at least 60 credits in one or several university master's degree programmes.

Documents issued abroad must comply with the established requirements.

* Documents issued by member states of the European Union, or signatories of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or countries with bilateral agreements with the EU need not be legalized.

** Original documents presented in English need not be translated.

If these candidates have subjected their qualifications to the process of official recognition in Spain (by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science):

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the identity card, passport or other document accrediting identity and nationality.
  • Acceptance agreement of the doctoral thesis tutor .
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the official university degree certificate that bestows the right to access a master’s study, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the university Master's degree or equivalent that gives access to the programme and the corresponding academic transcript.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the official document that officially recognizes the validity of the master's degree presented by the candidate for access to the official doctoral programme.

Students who have been awarded the qualifications required for entry at foreign higher education institutions outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA):

Students must present the following documents, legalized* and translated** (if necessary):

  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the document accrediting identity and nationality. This document does not require translating or legalizing.
  • Aceeptance agreement of the doctoral thesis tutor. This document does not require translating or legalizing.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) of the certificate required for access (official master's degree) that has not been subject to the process of official recognition, or the receipt confirming that the issuance fees for the certificate have been paid. This qualification must be equivalent to a Spanish university Master's degree. For the responsible body to be able to assess the level, a certificate of the course studied must be provided.
  • Original and photocopy (or attested photocopy) issued by the university that has awarded the degree required for access (master) or by the appropriately competent authority accrediting that the degree awarded to the student allows him/her to be admitted to official doctoral studies in that country. This document need not be legalized.
