Rio +20 / UN Conference on Sustainable Development
The next UN Conference on Sustainable Development, also called Earth Summit or Rio +20, will take place from May 14th to 16th, 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will be attended by politicians and heads of state/heads of government from member countries, as well as officials from member countries and international institutions.
The Summit has been established with the aim of providing the time and space for global leaders to come together and define a sustainable development pathway that leads to a future in which the whole global population can enjoy a decent standard of living whilst preserving our ecosystems and natural resources.
