DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development - Discussion Session

Discussion session in Tarragona about the territorial participation process of the Catalan Climate Change Adaptation Strategy.

The Catalan Office for Climate Change of the Generalitat of Catalunya (OCCC) has begun the participation process of the Catalan Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (ESCACC). The city of Tarragona will host one of the scheduled sessions, specifically the one that will take place on Tuesday, 16th October, at 6 pm and in the Sala de Juntas of the Campus Catalunya (Av. Catalunya, 35) [INVITATION].

The DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development, in collaboration with the Territorial Analysis and Tourism Studies Researching Group of the URV, is the organizer of this session.

The increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, from different socioeconomic activities, has as a consequence the alteration of the Earth´s radiation balance and the rise of the temperatures on a planetary scale. These same socioeconomic activities, as well as the natural ecosystems, are being affected to a greater or lesser extent, by the Impacts associated with climate change.

Now is the time to establish the policies and the action lines needed to adapt to climate change and mitigate its adverse effects. All activity sectors of the Camp de Tarragona involved in adaptation to climate change (agriculture, tourism, industry, city planning, health, water management, energy, etc.) are welcome to participate in this event. Such event consists of a 30 min. presentation of the document “Catalan Climate Change Adaptation Strategy” [DRAFT] followed by the formation of different working groups in order to discuss.
