DOW/URV Chair of Sustainable Development - Exposition "L'aigua que treu la fam", complementary activities
Conference "La privatització de l'aigua: austeritat o sabotatge social"
On Thursday, February 7th in the Terres de l'Ebre Campus of the URV have the presence of Dr. Pedro Arrojo, Professor Emeritus of the University of Zaragoza and founding member of the New Water Culture Foundation (CANF), who gave the conference “La privatitzación del agua: austeridad o sabotaje social".
The auditorium of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus hosted seventy people were coming from four districts of the Terres de l'Ebre to hear Dr. Arrojo who, in his speech, said, arguing that (negative) consequences privatitzación involves the water either directly from the resource or its management, with examples of both our territory com developing countries.
The event was chaired by Dra Encarnació Ricart, Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations Society and the URV, Dr. Xavier Farré, deputy director of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus, Ms. Beatriz Viñuela, Councillor for Environment and Mobility of the City Tortosa, Dr. Jordi Morato, coordinator of the UNESCO Chair Sostenibilitat UPC and Dr. Oscar Saladié, director of the DOW / URV Chair of Sustainable Desenvolupament.
The conference was part of the closing ceremony of the exhibition "L'Aigua that treu the fam". An exhibition has been visited in the lobby of the Terres de l'Ebre Campus from the month of November 2012.
These activities have been organized by the Antena Cultural de la URV in Tortosa and the UNESCO Chair Sostenibilitat of the UPC. They have enjoyed the cooperation of the Centre for Development Cooperation - URV Solidària and DOW / URV Chair of Sustainable Desenvolupament.
