Manuel Sanromà

Manel Sanromà has been the managing director of the Open Administration Consortium of Catalonia (AOC) since February 2016. The aim of this entity is to work in conjunction with the Catalan public authorities to adopt and develop policies to improve public services by promoting initiatives, developing products and managing IT-intensive services.

He was founder member of TINET (Tarragona Internet), the first citizens' Internet network in Spain, in 1995. He is also a member of the Catalan Society of Mathematics, the Spanish Society of Astronomy, the International Astronomical Union and the Internet Society. He was the founder of the domain .CAT. He was awarded the Alan Turing Prize for best CIO (Chief Information Officer) in 2015 for his work as managing director of the Barcelona City Council's Municipal Computer Institute.
