Josep Antoni Baixeras Sastre was born in Tarragona in 1927 and died in 2008 in the same city. It was during his final years studying to be lawyer that his fondness for writing emerged. This was at a time when cultural production in Tarragona was almost inexistent.

He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Rovira i Virgili Univeristy on 23 February 2004, along with Xavier Amorós and Josep Subirats in an act to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Constitution and which also coincided with the anniversary of the attempted coup d’état in 1981. He was sponsored by the Vice-Rector Joana Zaragoza who described him as the people’s representative in the context of cultural resistance to Francoism.

In addition to being a lawyer, he has written several literary works characterized by their use of language, which is at once elaborate and indicative of the author. In 1959 he received the Víctor Català Award.
